How can I tell if my backhoe loader hydraulic system is overheating?

Look at the gauge: the oil temperature gauge exceeds 80℃ (or red zone signaling).

Observe the operation: the action becomes slow, powerless, and the connection operation is stalled.

Measure the parts: oil tank, main oil pipe is hot (more than 70 ℃), radiator temperature difference between inlet and outlet <3 ℃.

Check the oil: the oil is dark, burning odor, viscosity decreases.

Operation after overheating

1. emergency cooling

Stop in a cool place, idle for 10-15 minutes (do not turn off the engine immediately), before the oil temperature drops below 70℃.

Temporarily clean the radiator from dust and adjust the fan belt that slips.

2. check the cause

Cooling system: clean the radiator (blowing out the dust/flushing out the oil), check the fan speed and belt tension.

Oil: top up oil to normal level, replace spoiled oil and filter element.

Components: measure the temperature of the pump body (above 80℃ may be internal leakage), check the cylinder/valve for internal leakage.

3. daily preventive maintenance

Check the heat output and oil level before starting work; if the temperature is high, stop the machine for 5 minutes every hour to reduce the temperature.

Clean the radiator regularly and change the hydraulic oil according to the cycle (reduce to 1500 hours under high temperature conditions).
